Unbought & Unbossed: A Celebration of Shirley Chisholm & Women in Leadership
Changing the Face of Democracy: Private Tour Celebrating Shirley Chisholm + Member Brunch Let's continue to celebrate Women’s History Month, as well as women who lead, year long! Join us as we embark on a private, guided tour of the Changing the Face of Democracy: Shirley Chisholm at 100 exhibit at the Museum of the City of NY, preceded by an Art-full member brunch at Alison East Harlem. Marking the centennial of Shirley Chisholm’s birth, this ground-breaking exhibition explores the life and legacy of a political trailblazer who defied expectations and reshaped American democracy. As the first Black woman elected to Congress and the first woman to seek a major party’s presidential nomination, Chisholm dedicated her life to fighting for racial and gender equality, workers’ rights, education, and social justice. Through historical artifacts, photographs, campaign materials, and interactive displays, this exhibition offers a closer look at her fearless leadership, bold activism, and lasting influence on U.S. politics. Chisholm’s trailblazing leadership, commitment to justice, and refusal to be silenced aligns with Women of Culture’s mission to celebrate the power of art, history, and storytelling while fostering deeper connections among a wide network of women and allies. Don’t miss this afternoon celebrating an amazing change-maker from the past, while also meeting some of the great women of today! All tickets include museum admission and the private, guided tour. Full experience tickets also include 1 brunch entree + 1 non-alcoholic beverage + tax/tip at brunch. All other food/drink must be paid separately on-site.
